Worship

Worship, in its simplest form, is “bringing pleasure to God.” John Piper, a contemporary preacher, puts it like this: “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.” Often churches make the mistake of calling what is done on Sunday mornings worship, especially the singing. Though that can and ought to be worship, the truth is that worship is a matter of the heart. When John fell down at the feet of the angel who had appeared to him, the angel rebuked him and said, “Worship God.” Satan wanted Jesus to “worship” him. What he meant by that was not for Jesus to offer demonic sacrifices and chants but to give allegiance to him. Jesus refused because our allegiance is to be to God alone.

It is the goal of Metropolitan to teach and help each Christian understand worship better. That means that we will use a variety of methods and styles on Sundays and at other services to bring corporate worship to the Lord, so we do not come to rely on one means or one style as the right way to show our allegiance to God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
