FAQ5. How do I send you my comments or questions?
1. Where can I park?
On street parking is available around the New Utrecht Cemetery next to the church, as well as any of the local streets. On Sundays, the municipal parking lot on 86th Street between 18th and 17th Avenues, next to the New Utrecht branch of the public library, is available free of charge. This lot is only a block away from the church. Exit out the back gate of the parking area, turn left on 85th Street. At 17th Avenue turn right and at 84th Street turn left. The church is half a block ahead on the left-hand side.
Everyone is invited to attend the church services, whether or not one is a member. Membership entails three steps:
1. Attendance of CLASS 101, Discovering Church Membership (a five session course offered throughout the year or upon request).
2. An interview with the Pastor or Elder Board concerning a clear profession of faith and statement of baptism (if not baptized by immersion as a believer, the candidate will be scheduled to be baptized).
3. Public reception as a member before the congregation upon affirmation of the church covenant.
Church members are expected to participate actively in the purpose of Metropolitan Baptist Church utilizing their talents, time, and treasure to pursue the glory of God through the ministries and mission of the church.
3. What is MBC’s theological position on …?
Many of the church positions on doctrine are outlined in the church Statement of Faith. If you have further questions, not answered by the Statement of Faith, feel free to e-mail Pastor Chris at c_n_gardner@yahoo.com.
For thirty-four years Metropolitan Baptist Church has stood completely independent of any other organization, while cooperating within the evangelical Protestant community both locally and worldwide. In 2008, the church family voted to affiliate with the Southern Baptist Convention upon recommendation by the Pastor and Elder Board. This move was made because it afforded the local congregation continuing autonomy, while strengthening our ability to serve the wider Christian community.
