Welcome from Pastor Chris

The God who created us revealed in His Word, the Bible, that the chief end or purpose of the human race is to glorify God through His Son, Jesus Christ. That is why we, at Metropolitan, have the same desire that the Apostle Paul had when he wrote the Thessalonian church, “With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of His calling, and that by His power He may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
(2 Th 1:11-12 NIV)

Amazingly, God has planned that He would be best glorified, not in creation, nor in the wonders of heaven, though He is greatly glorified in both, but in His church. “His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to His eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Eph 3:10-11 NIV)

You might think that means the church is perfect, but you would be wrong. As a matter of fact, it is in our weakness that God becomes glorified. “But He (God) said to me (Paul), ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I (Paul) will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me”. (2 Cor 12:9 NIV)

A master carpenter shows his greatness, not so much in taking a perfect piece of wood and designing something beautiful, but in taking a broken piece of wood and reworking it into a masterpiece. That is what God does with all those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Our lives are broken. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” (Rom 3:23 NIV). That is why Jesus came into the world in the first place. “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.” (Luke 19:10 NIV)

So we, at Metropolitan, are a group of imperfect people who are being perfected by the One who is perfect. That is what the church is all about. “For those God foreknew (set His love on beforehand) He also predestined (purposed or determined) to be conformed (think and act) to the likeness of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers.” (Rom 8:29 NIV)

No matter what your ethnic or cultural background, if you are looking for answers, for life’s purpose, for healing for your brokenness, or for truth that is eternal, you will find a warm home here at Metropolitan. We have discovered that a passionate pursuit of God’s glory provides all these things and more. As Jesus stated, “…seek first His kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
(Mat 6:33 NIV)

Welcome to Metropolitan’s website. We pray that through it you will deepen your desire to passionately seek God’s glory.
