Devotion, Praise & Prayer Gathering
“One day Jesus was praying in a certain place.
When he finished, one of his disciples said to him,
"Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”
Luke 11:1 NIV
Each Wednesday at 7:30 pm, we begin with a short passage of Scripture on prayer, then share a few thoughts from that passage on how to improve our prayer life and prayer focus. Central to the whole teaching of the Bible on prayer is the concept that prayer is communion with the Great, Eternal and Holy God. We discovered that the Bible tells us not to tell those who do not know the Lord to pray, except to pray that He would save them.
The short devotional prepares us for the sharing time, when prayer needs are discussed. Then the group that is present breaks into smaller prayer groups of two to five people. These intense prayer groups bring personal requests, as well as the request on the prayer guide, before the Throne of Grace. Included in this prayer time is the concern for the persecuted church in various locations of the world.
For those who are not available on Wednesday nights, a prayer bulletin is made available to be used during an individual’s daily prayer time.
Prayer is indeed the life blood of this church.
"…pray continually"
1 Thessalonians 5:17 NIV
