MUSIC DIRECTOR FOR CORPORATE WORSHIP
METROPOLITAN BAPTIST CHURCH
1. Position Title: Music Director for Corporate Worship
2. Qualifications: Solid faith in Jesus Christ
Understanding the nuances of a corporate worship experience
Qualifications required of a Deacon/Deaconess in 1 Timothy 3
3. Responsible to: Senior Pastor in regards to daily duties
Elder Board with regards to finances and hiring issues
4. Term: A probation period of one month will be followed by an evaluation
by the Elder Board; the term will then be extended indefinitely
subject to the termination policy indicated under point six below.
5. Position Summary: Planning, accompanying, and overseeing the corporate music experience
on Sunday mornings and special services –
Specific Responsibilities:
· Music Director will serve approximately ten (10) hours per week in services, rehearsals, and administrative duties related to his/her position (12 hours if accompanying the Sr. Choir)
· Communicate regularly with the Senior Pastor concerning services
· Arrange for song words to be prepared for Easy Worship projection during services, and notify AV techs of the order of music
· Plan Sunday morning corporate music experience
· Work with the Pastor in the planning of the corporate music for special services
· Plan rehearsals and rehearse weekly with the vocalists and other musicians related to the Sunday morning services, except the Sr. Choir and Metro Praise Kids
· Oversee the scheduling of Sound Technicians and the set up of the sound equipment for each Sunday and special services
· Oversee the upkeep and updating of the sound system in conjunction with the Pastor or the Deacon responsible for facilities management
· Coordinate with the other aspects of the church’s music program related to the regular Sunday morning music experience and special services.
6. Termination Policy: Two weeks minimum notice of release from the Elders of MBC to the appointee or from the appointee to the Elder Board; immediate termination upon violation of the moral policies of the Scriptures as determined by the Elders of Metropolitan Baptist Church and the church constitution and bylaws.
7. Package: The Minister of Corporate Worship shall receive an annual salary of $7,500 paid in twelve (12) monthly payments of $625.00 (an additional $1,500 if accompanying the Sr. Choir). If the Music Director commutes from a distance, transportation costs will also be covered at $.39 per mile or reimbursement of actual transportation fares.
8. Purpose: The purpose of the Music Ministry at Metropolitan is to engage the inner pursuit of God’s glory within those performing the music so that, no matter what level of musicality they have, the spirit of worship overflows from the heart into the whole person resulting in deeper communion with the Lord God and with the rest of the church family, thereby leading God‘s people to worship Him with their whole being through a seamless flow of corporate praise, prayer, and devotion using music from the past and present.
